GOP gaining ground in House races

GOP gaining ground in House races

(Paul Mirengoff) The Cook Political Report has revised its district-by-district assessment of this fall’s House races. 21 races have a new rating and 17 of them favor Republicans . Of particular interest for us is the reassessment of the race in Minnesota’s Eighth District, in which John’s friend Stewart Mills is challenging incumbent Democrat Rick Nolan. Cook has switched this race from “leans Democrat” to “toss-up.” Stewart Mills will be one of our “Power Line Picks.” We will be presenting our full slate very soon. Two other Minnesota races…

Annals of the ceasefire

Annals of the ceasefire

(Scott Johnson) The supposed 72-hour ceasefire agreed to by Hamas has been breached in a major way by Hamas. As I pick up the news on Twitter, Hamas continues to fire its rockets. A Hamas suicide bomber emerged from a Rafah tunnel and blew himself up on IDF soldiers. Two IDF soldiers were killed in the attack. And IDF officer Hadar Goldin of the Givati Brigade was kidnapped this morning. His fellow soldiers are hunting house to house for him. The Times of Israel is tracking the events of the day here…

Marco Rubio on Obama’s Foreign Policy Failures

Marco Rubio on Obama’s Foreign Policy Failures

(John Hinderaker) I hosted the Laura Ingraham show today, and Marco Rubio was a guest. We talked about the comprehensive failure of the Obama administration’s foreign policies, as manifested in deteriorating conditions (from the standpoint of American interests) around the world. It is a good, sharp discussion and is only around seven minutes long. The audio is a good reminder, I think, of how strong Rubio is on these issues. I will be getting the audios of other interviews I did yesterday (including Jeff Sessions) and today (including John Thune), and will put those up as I am able over the next few days.
