Clearly, the Democrats think they have something here tying together the Republican Party and the Tea Party. However, it seems to me that this political miscalculation is exactly why Congress’ approval rating is at 11%. What the Democratic Leadership doesn’t seem to understand is that the Tea Party isn’t a political party; it’s a set of ideas shared by the overwhelming majority of Americans. The Tea Party is made up of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, Constitution Party members, and apolitical Americans. They are mainstream folks who love our nation and who wish to …

Congress Hits New All-Time Low– Gallup reported, via Drudge : Gallup’s 2010 Confidence in Institutions poll finds Congress ranking dead last out of the 16 institutions rated this year. Eleven percent of Americans say they have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress, down from 17% in 2009 and a percentage point lower than the previous low for Congress, recorded in 2008… Underscoring Congress’ image problem, half of Americans now say they have “very little” or no confidence in Congress, up from 38% in 2009 — and the highest for any institution since …
[Guest post by DRJ] I doubted a pollster would do it but Quinnipiac has polled President Barack Obama vs Any Republican opponent, and it’s bad news for Obama: “A year after President Barack Obama’s political honeymoon ended, his job approval rating has dropped to a negative 44 – 48 percent, his worst net score ever, and American voters say by a narrow 39 – 36 percent margin that they would vote for an unnamed Republican rather than President …
Gallup has the president’s D.C. approval rating at 85 percent.
One of the things many election analysts continue to cite as a hopeful sign for Democrats in the upcoming mid-term elections is the fact that Obama’s approval rating has remained fairly high. The thinking, then, is the vote won’t be about him or his agenda and that means Democrats may be successful in keeping the focus local and weathering the storm of electoral anger. I don’t think so.? And here’s why: Thirty-eight percent of independents approve of the job Barack Obama is doing as president, the first time independent approval of Obama has dropped below 40% in a Gallup Daily tracking weekly aggregate. Meanwhile, Obama maintains the support of 81% of Democrats, and…
I’ve been skeptical that the Gulf spill would hurt Obama as much as all the cable chatter suggested, but there’s this NBC/WSJ poll per First Read: For the first time in our survey, Obama’s approval rating is upside down (at 45%-48%); for the first time in his presidency, more than 60% believe the country is on the wrong track; and for the first time in his presidency, Obama’s “very negative” score on the feeling thermometer nearly matches his “very positive” score. The White House has recently been fond of using the phrase “inflection point” to indicate a new chapter in terms of their handling of the oil spill. Well, this poll is potentially …
I’m sure it will somehow become a matter of race, but a recent Public Policy Polling survey showed that 50% of the state voters rated President Bush’s performance in 2005 after hurricane Katrina as better than the effort by President Obama today. Only 35% picked Obama’s performance as the best. That’s not to say the state was satisfied with either response. On the contrary, 62% said they disapproved of Obama’s handling of the crisis while 58% said they disapproved of Bush’s performance. Meanwhile, another new poll finds that Obama’s approval rating has hit a new low: Rasmussen Reports released a new poll Wednesday showing Obama’s approval rating…

A new low for BO… Maybe those vacations, the half dozen, or so, parties , and the several rounds of golf during the 9-11-style BP oil spill didn’t play out so well with the American public after all? Obama’s approval rating hit a new low today. Rasmussen reported: The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 24% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Only nine months ago, politically speaking, Jan Brewer had flatlined; the Arizona governor’s approval rating was at 22 percent. And as recently as three months ago, a Rasmussen poll of likely voters showed her trailing her likely opponent, state Attorney General Terry Goddard, by nearly 10 points in the runup to November’s gubernatorial election.
